Common Courtesy On Nordock

It is amazing that we have such an influx of new, old, and returning players to the Land of Nordock.

Certain things though I feel need to be pointed out in order to help the servers keep up and the player experience
to be more positive.

1. Kill your spawns.
If you spawn something, then kill it. If the spawn is beyond your ability to kill, send a tell to a higher level player and ask politely
to have them clear it out for you. Leaving spawns drags on server resources and creates Lag, which is bad for us all.

2. STOP dragging Brock's men all over the server to be killed.
Again with the spawns, If you and a Brock can't kill the spawns, then avoid the area.
Leaving dead brocks all over the Mod slows it down and creates Lag.
Plus it influences the spawns in an area and creates a great discomfort for players of all levels.
There are ( at the moment ) 20 plus dead brocks from the Benzor river valley, to Brosna, not including Tobaro area.
Dead Brocks on Boats? Come on guys, lets keep the servers clean so they run better and help all of our play experience.

3. As slow as the Difficult server is to achieve higher levels
Gold is more valuable, so crafting really helps.
Simply running through areas and leaving spawns and dead brocks in order to powerlevel is just bad manners.
Ask for advice and help from those you know to be more experienced, it will help you and the server to stay clean and lag-ish free.

Thank you for the consideration. The last thing we need is a negative or toxic community on the Servers and the forums. So help yourselves by trying to observe these things. What would really hurt the game is people dragging the highest level encounters they possibly can into the lower level areas.

Oh and its not just bad manners, its rule breaking. Bypassing is against server rules.

Uhm, you're allowed to "flee" from an enemy right? I'm pretty sure that used to be a rule. Which would mean turn around I suppose (and with that leaving no othe than 1 spawn).....

Fleeing is not bypassing, as long as you get someone to either help you kill the spawn, or post here so that someone else can go kill it. If you find higher level monsters on a map, you may sneak through and then post here so that we may clear the area.

Bypassing is sneaking through an area, which is not an actual hostile city, for the purpose of avoiding a fight with the normal monsters that you have spawned on that map. Or even just strolling through an area, but not clearing the spawns. Please be considerate of your fellow players.

If players are continuously killed, because someone else is leaving their spawns, the guilty party will be dealt with. If other players are continuously otherwise inconvenienced because someone is not killing their spawns, the guilty party will be dealt with.

I logged in to play last night. (I know, it does not happen often.) Someone had left a Bria Brown Bear in the fountain near the Benzor front gate on Diff. Rather than log in as DM, I tamed it (Animal Empathy), and took it back to Bria's Fay.

Please do not leave animals anywhere within the cities or sewers. Leave them outside of the gates. There is enough lag already, and there have also been instances of freed hostile animals killing NPCs and other players. (Doh!) They do NOT despawn when you log out.

One other thing to remember - no evil or undead summoned creatures within the surface cities. Not only is it poor RP, it is possible for them to aggro NPCs, and then you will have a faction problem. (Meaning that the guards will be chasing you, the summoner.)

Thank you.

In case you do not have time to read your ingame journal, there are rules in it. The below applies partially to this topic:

Section 3. Be Considerate of Others

A. Do not run past other players to get to an area first.

B. Do not loot anything that you did not kill... the final blow is not always dealt by
the person who actually killed the beast.

C. When in a group, finish the fight before searching the corpses... your party member(s)
probably need your help and the loot is not going anywhere.

D. Do not attack another person's opponent(s) unless they ask for assistance, or you are
positive that they need it (i.e. their corpse is lying at the creature's feet).

E. If you meet someone in an area, offer to join forces. This will allow both of you to
enjoy the area without breaking rule 3D.

F. If you run from a monster, try not to lead it onto unsuspecting players. If this
does happen, help them defeat the beast (they maybe weaker than you)... be sure to
apologize and thank them for the aid.

G. Do not camp an Area. Camping is defined as staying in one area waiting for creatures
to respawn and by doing so possibly denying other players of that area's use. This is a
RolePlaying server. It is not a powerleveling server. If you only strive for level 20
and "uber gear" perhaps you would be happier elsewhere. There are NO exceptions to this
rule. Don't camp.

H. If somebody is harassing you, or doing "tells" to you that you find insulting take a
screenshot (print screen button = pic will be in NWN folder) and give it to a DM. If you
grief others, you will be banned. It is far easier on you to have that player dealt with
by somebody whom has been empowered to deal with them, than to get yourself into trouble
for something you cannot prove they did to instigate the situation.

I. Logging out to avoid death or the threat of death is also a bannable offense. Once
you start the fight, finish it or flee.

Most of these would be nullified by simply adding a despawning script. I don't know why we don't have one.

It is not a simple matter of adding one script. There is no room to add any scripts, and each area is scripted differently. Many people had a hand in designing Nordock, over the years.
