I agree in how impossible it is to have fights in benzor without causing faction wars all over.

I agree the rule is a valid practical solution.
I will, or more precisely, would comply to the rule (dont have such evil characters) but I want to point out something.

Strictly technical,

Of course a level 30 should be able to kill everything in benzor, because it has been possible for years. In a sense, supposed to be.

Take Tucker (the greatest criminal ever, responsible for over 95% of benzor faction wars....*bear*), he is soacked bread nowadays (level 6 AC 0?), any noob can and possibly should kil the %$#@&^. Benzor has never had an elite guard squad like brosna.

All us leet staticticians know that Galdor couldn't beat an ancient reddy even.
Galdors might is not physical, it is intellectual, that is why he leads the blackavar quest.

As such, however things are "supposed to be", in (virtual) reality, it has been known for years that Benzor actually has weak defenses, extremely weak nowadays.
Galdor should be able to call forth epic heroes of goodness to defend the city however, to toss a coin. Galdor guards?

As you notice, I give credit to how the system is actually implemented, it is not a proposal as definite solution though.

I think if Benzor is supposed to be untakeable, it should be heavily modified, all the guards would have to find a different job or sent to a proper bootcamp. No way does Benzor reflect the image of an untakeable town, on the contrary I would say. Not that it would solve killing every type of lvl40 built, but for your rule, the town should at least have an image of untakeability (that word exists yet? :) ).This all of course in a technical implementation of replacing module content, not adding. I could be wrong, it could actually provoke more aggression of lvl40 noobs; Im not suggesting it as a solution, but it could make it more clear to players that you are not supposed to mess around in cities, which isnt really the case atm.

The real "problem" I see here is why do lvl40 noobs find inspiration in challenging town NPCs?
Demigod characters shouldn't be around mortal cities anyways, they should be epicking on the Epic Plane of Epicness.

Maybe if one addition could be possible it would be a demigod hangout place in some different space/time/plane.

This all vaguely reminds me of Classics and The Rock on Benzor Flats (containing bored maxleveled powergamers ) Yea, give that area enough Rocks of Vanity where people can stand on being all Epic n Haughty, taking epic screenshots of themselves.

Also, there are way more interesting NPCs to kill.....

greets and have some real cool adventures,

Xillie, it's just about using common sense. This isn't even a new rule, in the old server you couldn't even go into town with a summon that could seem like a threat. Your responses to both Phoenix and I last night were justified, you didn't know what was going on. I know it was redundant, but there is a group of players, and I want to make that clear, it's a group of players, not an individual, who seem to have forgotten the rules.

We're all friends and everyone knows who the DMs are and probably play together as players. That's why I made my DM account blatantly obvious. But that doesn't give ANYONE the right to think they can bend the rules. Not even the ones who have DM status. If I see Liira for instance, come inside Benzor as a goblin on her player account, I'm getting Tucker and either drive her character out or kill it if needed.

I'm not kin of the DM kill button, but I assure you Tucker will seem like Hulk and she wouldn't have a chance. And like you said, in cases like this, if you feel like complaining. Come to the forums. In game, the DM is always right. That's a written rule. So that's that.

The problem with Benzor not feeling like an untakeable city is that it's stuffed into a single 16x16 area, then in the flats there's no way for a Castle wall, it's a mud/brick wall with wooden doors, it's impossible to make it feel epic or heavily fortified with the tilesets, that'll be a different case in the new game. That said, benzor DOES have an elite guard, it was balanced for high numbers of these spawns with lvl 20s around. With Lvl 40s around, it doesn't work at all. Also, when you kill certain NPCs I get an alert that NPCs are being killed, and can deal with it.

I don't think that my goblin will be coming to Benzor any time soon. She is happy in the drow city where she is a servant.

^ Roleplayed, not a problem :P Now, if a Drow who had completed the wings quest escorted you through Benzor, that would be perfectly acceptable aswell.

Besides the fact that if that was the case, the goblin would have to be invisible so that the npc's didn't attack it :)

True, but this is about DM interaction/intervention, not NPC interaction.

Seems like management is done through brute force, rather than incentive and community leading.

I hope the Kraken won't be summoned upon the top of my head for killing those Cows. I'm sure the farmer who owned those cows will surely pay the Kraken 3 gold pieces, the last of his earnings from last harvest.

Wonder what the kraken's schedule looks like, anyway:
Tuesday: 5:00am - Wake up.
Tuesday: 5:05am - Shit, Shave, Shower
Tuesday: 5:55am - Skip breakfast, early start on being summoned to kill that pesky Cow murderer.
Tuesday: 5:58am - Second summon of the day, kill that damn drow who thinks she can get away with harassing the Benzor gate guards.
Tuesday: 6:00am - Finally on to my real day doing Kraken stuff

So happy that I'm not a Kraken, meddling in the affairs of the common-folk.

Wow that's a lottof work for a pretty (successfull) cynical post, thanks for the laugh.

Anyone just randomly "powerplaying" NPCs to death would always have gotten the DM-kill.

I'm still wondering if this rule isnt redundant considering existing rules.

I can assure you, Celvias, if you had been playing on the server for the past years, you would agree to me that "management" is definitely not done through brute force.....anymore.....considering Richterms Retreat.

On the contrary, where you would have gotten a DM kill and no opportunity to object/argue at RR, here we have a discussion on the fora where most of us are trying to contribute to with content, at least it seems like it.
Pretty much all of the serious issues over the past years here have gotten plenty of opportunity to discuss here.

No, the kraken-DMs (a good one, really) have long gone, you wouldn't recognize the ingame atmosphere in general.
We all try to keep it peacefull that's why we discuss things (smash-bang-bash) on the fora.

See you ingame for cool adventures,

Leave those poor cows alone!

This thread was started, to underline existing rules, and clarify some points which were not evident to newer players.
